actually it is my own story and it happened a good 8 years before she bounced - and i bounced further anyway. my life is plenty interesting enough without resorting to second hand storytelling, thank you.
This story is also the story of a fellow I was climbing with one sunny summer day. He bounced real good (from about 12'). Broke his ankle actually. The nurses in Canmore were very nice.
it was more like 25-30 ft. i was 17, climbing a cliff, and had a really good guardian angel (still do) i jumped when it became apparent that i was slipping and was going to slide and bounce and get scraped up. i cleared the trees and rocks below and landed on soft grass with nothing but a very small bruise on my ass. it was one of the best experiences of my life.
Oh, and Tick took a header off Rundle (I think it was Rundle). I bailed on a cliff over the Elbow river on the back of a mountain bike (got a wicked scar) and Peter ditched out of a pine tree... I think he landed on his head, but his dad asserts it was his back side. I still think it was his head, it just makes more sense.

Ah, but if I recall, the story is not your story, but that of Lady Bounces Off Rocks.

I am suddenly reminded of a poem I once read about a swan. I believe it's in Nortons. ;)
Yes, the poem is "Swan and Shadow", by John Hollander. It is in Nortons Anthology of Poetry pg. 994.
